Exploring Interdisciplinary Careers in Engineering & Technology By - Mr. Vikram Patel (Director Outreach) from Plaksha University, Mohali

Plaksha University conducted a session focusing on interdisciplinary careers in engineering and technology, highlighting the integration of diverse disciplines. Students were introduced to emerging fields such as Computer Sciences, AI, Data Science, Economics and Business, Biological System Engineering, Robotics, and Cyber Physical Systems. Mr. Vikram underscored the significance of strong academic performance and IIT JEE scores in securing scholarships. Demystifying CUET Exam By - Ms. Aditi from EduMentor Test Prep, Delhi NCR

Ms. Aditi, an experienced career counsellor, led a workshop focusing on informed career decision-making. She provided personalized guidance and practical insights, emphasizing strengths over passion in career planning. Participants engaged in discussions on selecting universities based on factors like environment, faculty, placements, categorized by grade. The workshop highlighted three course distinctions—academic, combined, and practical—tailored to align with individual interests and skills in fields like commerce and humanities. Detailed insights into specific courses such as BBA, Journalism, and Law, along with top Indian universities offering them, were discussed. The session concluded with a quiz based on CUET exam pattern.

Psychology By - Dr. Kanishka Sharma (Professor) from Rishihood University, Sonipat

The session distinguished psychology as the study of the mind and neuroscience as the study of the brain. It highlighted self-consciousness and free will as uniquely human traits. An experiment using electrodes connected two people, demonstrating non-verbal communication through involuntary actions. The brain’s plasticity allows it to change shape, housing 100 billion neurons and processing information at varying speeds. Debunking myths, it clarified that humans use more than 10% of their brains over a lifetime. The prefrontal cortex governs cognition, including perception, memory, and reasoning. Techniques for optimal brain function included attention, alertness, sleep, breaks, multisensory learning, and active engagement.

AI, ML, Block Chain, Quantum Computing, Future careers Industry trends By - Dr. Ashish Kumar (Professor) from Bennett University, G.Noida

An expert session by Dr. Ashish highlighted the transformative impact of AI on future jobs, stressing adaptation to stay competitive. He explored engineering domains such as machine learning, generative AI, and quantum computing, emphasizing their applications in data science, healthcare, cybersecurity, and finance. Career paths in research, entrepreneurship, and opportunities in companies advancing quantum computing and machine learning were discussed. He outlined career criteria: skill development, parental encouragement, adaptability, and peer networking. Advice on college selection included faculty expertise, research prospects, industry ties, and curriculum relevance. Overall, students were urged to prepare for evolving job markets by embracing technological advancements and strategic educational choices.

Krea Univ 2022 UG Admissions Round-2 ongoing – (2021-12-05)

Krea University a state-private university, located in Sri City, about 60 km from Chennai, will be closing its Second round of applications for 2022 UG Admissions in January.  The university is a leading institution in providing modern pedagogical Liberal programs in India.  The governing council at Krea boasts of names such as Sajjan Jindal, Anand Mahindra, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, and Aditya Mittal among others.

Program structure: 3 (+1 optional) year UG program in either B.A.(Hons) or B.Sc. (Hons)  

Each student needs to take a mandatory eleven core and skill courses in the first year. Students will choose a major in their second year. Students will complete required and elective courses towards the chosen major.

Krea conducts its admission process via 4 rounds.  Each round consists of two stages – Stage 1 is the application cycle and Stage 2 is the Krea Immersive Case KIC.

Applications for Round 2 is ongoing and the deadline for applications for Round 2 is 24th January 2022.

The University offers Financial aid which is broadly driven by the candidates’ family income (if it is less than Rs 35 lacs per year).

NIFT Begins 2022 Admission Process – (2021-12-05)

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has started accepting applications to its UG programs beginning in 2022. NIFT has 17 professionally managed campuses across India and the faculty of the institute has grown into a community of leading practitioners, education enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, creative thinkers, researchers & analysts.  Many of the campuses of NIFT command top ranks in the Fashion Design category in India.

NIFT is a Statutory Institute Governed by the NIFT Act 2006 and has been set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The institutes grant their own degrees.

The NIFT campuses are located in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Panchkula, Raebareli, Shillong, Srinagar.

The Programs offered by NIFT are:

4-Year Bachelors of Design

4-Year Bachelors in Fashion Technology (Apparel Production)

Admissions to each of the above programs are via Entrance Exams.

Applications at JGU for UG Design Programs Ongoing – (2021-12-09)

The Jindal School of Art and Architecture, a constituent school of the O.P.Jindal Global University (JGU), is accepting applications to its UG 4-Year B.Design & 3(+1 optional) year B.A. in Build Environment studies.

JGU is a Private University located in Sonepat, 40kms from Delhi. In 2019, UGC named JGU as an Institute of Eminence, making it one of the ten private universities in India to have received the distinction. 

Courses offered:

  • 4 year Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Interior
  • 4 year Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Urban & Community
  • 3+1 year B.A.(Hons) Built Environment Studies

The unique B.A. in Built Environment Studies is a program that teaches fundamentals of design & making our cities, towns infrastructure, and communities in addition to learning law, policy, environmental issues, questions of economics, technology, sustainability, and ecology

The Admissions to the above programs are via the JCAT (Jindal Creative Aptitude Test). 

JCAT-2022 will be held on 18th-20th February 2022.
