Unleashing the Leader Within @ Virtual Leadership Camp_ July 30 & 31

“Be the Leader you would want to follow.”

A two – day Virtual Leadership Camp organized for the members of Student Council on 30th and 31st of July, 2021 was about building core values that signify the making of a leader and the qualities that exhort one to become a better human being.

Leadership Camp at Khaitan Public School is a philosophy and a toolkit that accelerates Khaitanians towards self-awareness and growth. Through the camp, the school provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills, goal setting, time management techniques, make them learn about savoir vivre (knowledge of life) and etiquettes. They also learn to collaborate more effectively in teams while working on exciting challenges and engaging activities.  

The opening ceremony on Day 1 kick started with the traditional Lamp Lighting to invoke the blessings of the Lord followed by an Indian Dance Performance. The event continued with the exciting videos of the participants who had received Leadership Camp Kits at their homes. They were thrilled and excited to unbox the customized goody bags comprising of T shirts, colored sheets, stationery, notepad, candies and others interesting items.

School Principal Ms. Sonia Anil Verma highlighted how student leaders are taking the legacy of KPS ahead. She quoted   “Leadership is an influence of a personal power that creates progressive advanced community towards a common purpose.” Madam cited various examples to make future leaders understand the difference between a leader and a boss. She flagged off the programme by saying “A leader is one who has solution to a problem and is action oriented.”

The Founder Director of World Youth Council and Edenue Ms. Urvashi Goyal, person behind this Leadership Camp  not only deals with schools and students as a clientele but has also developed a strong network of young entrepreneurs and startups. Her trained and evolved faculty engaged a contingent of 90 students across Junior, Middle and Senior School for two days. The participants were divided in 4 batches as per their age-levels. This camp proved to be a roller coaster of learning. This event included highly exciting activities like Ice Breakers, Tag, Journal Making, Team Building and Growth Mindset Workshop, Talent Hunt, Project Planning and Presentation, Yoga & Meditation, Personality Development aimed at honing the Leadership skills of the students, grooming their personality.

Day 2 of the camp commenced with Yoga Asanas amidst chanting of Mantras and Meditation for the calmness of Mind. Yoga and Meditation Session instilled in them the realization of Leadership being an ongoing journey. Various other sessions like Personality Development instilled organization skills, punctuality and efficiency in students. Entrepreneurial Mindset Session intended towards making students future focused, intrinsically motivated, action-oriented and self-directed. Project Planning and Presentation involved documentation for successful project completion helping students to think ahead, clarify goals and get prepared for the future. We could see an amalgamation of various forms of Technology like Zoom, Breakout rooms, Jamboard throughout the two day camp.

Closing Ceremony on Day 2 witnessed Student Leaders sharing their experiences from among the diverse range of sessions. Highly encouraging address by the President of KOSA (Khaitan Old Students Association) Mr. Manmeet Singh (Research Scholar at JNU, Professor of French at the Alliance Francaise in Delhi) made students realize the importance of positive changes at school, how now they have access to world class education and how being a leader goes beyond looking for opportunities for yourself. 

Vice President KOSA Ms. Devika Joshi, a Digital Nomad and an entrepreneur, appreciated the encouragement extended by the school to the students and organizing this camp even during unprecedented times. She said “Being a true entrepreneur is seeing an opportunity when others see a problem.” It’s just about collaborating with right people and getting the right people on job that leads to being a successful entrepreneur.

The school choir presented an incredible rendition of ‘Believer’ followed by the much awaited Award Ceremony. The leaders from each batch were felicitated by various School Heads. E-certificates were awarded to the proud winners. From Batch 1 Medha Das and Agrima Jain held the First and the Second Position respectively. Batch 2 saw Apurva Roy and Aaravi Gautam as winners at first and second place. They were closely followed by Khyati Sinha and Vansh Verma securing First and Second Position from Batch 3.  Ishita Bhardwaj and Vanshika Singh Bora from Batch 4 stood first and second.

The Camp winners were awarded by the School Principal. Angel Wazir, Class IX was announced as the Camp Winner. She was closely followed by Itiksha Bhardwaj, Class IX as the First Runner Up and Vedant Sai Dixit, Class VI as the Second Runner Up.

Leadership Camp ended up being a fun-filled camp wherein students emerged as leaders. Students were thankful to the Vice Chairman Mr. Anirudh Khaitan who has always been a guiding force and a motivating mentor. Mr. Anand Kumar, Vice Principal Pastoral delivered the vote of thanks and applauded the efforts of each and every member of the Khaitan Family for their untiring and unending efforts leading towards hosting an event of great grandeur. He wished luck to all the LEADERS FOR LIFE.
