“Art doesn’t give rise to anything in us that isn’t already there. It simply stirs our curious consciousness and sparks a fire that illuminates who we have always wanted to be.” With the purpose of unlocking the aesthetic talent and skills of its students, Khaitan Public School organized Meraki, a week-long Performing Arts Festival. The festival commenced on 24th November and ended on 28th November, 2020. The Greek word ‘Meraki’ means to put soul, passion and creativity into what one creates or produces. The purpose of this festival was to showcase the talent and creativity of the students in the different facets of dance, theatre and music. The theme of the festival was Community Transition-The New Normal. The school had invited some eminent names in the field namely Dr. Kaustavi Sarkar, Smt. Geeta Chandran and Mr. Feisal Alkazi to interact with the students and the alumni of KPS through panel discussions. It was a student led programme although it would have been impossible to come to life without the constant support from the Performing Arts, Events and Media Departments of the school. The event brought out the creative khaitanians to self- confidence and encouraged them to love and pursue their field of interest. The event was supported by excitement and curiosity of the young aspirants. During the morning sessions, we had Panel Discussions and Lecture Demonstrations on the topics- Art and Culture across Continents, Dance and Society along with Dance and Theatre in Education. In the evening, the audience witnessed several breathtaking dance, music and theatre performances throughout the week via YouTube Live.
