Kala Parv

With the purpose of sharing artistic ideas and creating a heady melange of creative thoughts, Khaitan Public School, Ghaziabad, is organized ‘Kala Parv – The Festival of Life’ where art was celebrated for art’s sake.

The two-day festival was a cornucopia of art expressed in all mediums – performance, visual and culinary using the faculties of the head, heart, hand and health. Art in all its myriad forms was celebrated and displayed through a collaboration of talent from Khaitan and other like-minded schools. Competition is not a part of art education, thus no event was competitive. Kala Parv was a festival of Art, A celebration of Art. The entire Arts department of the school along with 6 other schools from Ghaziabad and Greater Noida participated in the celebration of art for the sake of art. The guest of honour for the first day was Marie Elangovan who is an accomplished Bharatanatyam exponent, a noted choreographer and a teacher. She went on to speak about the Festival of Art- “Kala Parv”. She added that Kala Parv will help children connect with the different cultures and art forms practiced throughout the country. She added that every child should be given an opportunity to use art in some form to express his/her feelings.

The day started with the Ganesh Vandana played around the Ahir Bhairav Raag. The day also witnessed Nukkad Natak around women empowerment. The students from various other schools also participated in ‘Aalaap – An Interaction’, which was an initiative of the school to encourage the spirit of friendship through the exchange of artistic expressions. As the celebration was around art for its sake, all interactions were collaborative and non-competitive. 

The evening saw Guru Deepak Maharaj who is the son of renowned dancer Pandit Birju Maharaj as the guest of honour along with other distinguished guests including Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma from Shri Ram Kala Kendra and the India Manager for Rockland School UK Mr. Ritesh Khokar. Deepak Maharaj in his address said that words just create cacophony and we need to enjoy the feeling and words silently. Mr. Laxman Singh Negi went on to display the Shiv Tandav which kept the audience glued to their seats. He is a student of Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma.

The day 2 saw Ms. Saskia Rao-de Haas as the chief guest for day. She is a virtuoso cellist and composer from the Netherlands based in New Delhi, India. Vice Chairman Sir in his address noted that the society has reached a new low and it is only the students who can help it coming back to its original high.

The evening saw Ms. Papiha Desai and Kuleshwar Thakur as the guests of honour and being felicitated by the Principal of the school. Their Persona lent a grace to the occasion. Shri Kuleshwar Thakur went on to display his Dancing prowess in chau dance form followed by various Indian dance forms were presented by Dance troupe Gharonda. The evening also saw Chairman Sir Mr. Kamesh Khaitan, Mrs. Karuna Khaita and Vice Chairman Sir Mr. Anirudh Khaitan being felicitated by the Principal Ma’am Ms. Sonia Anil Verma. Vice Chairman sir addressed the gathering and went on to say that education is not only about getting a job however the parents should encourage their kids to work on skills that they have been endowed with.

The Principal of the school congratulated the entire Arts team for their overall performance. She also went on to add that the hard work put in by the students and teachers has finally paid off with the success of the event.

The Parent representative Mr. Jitendra Sharma also congratulated and thanked the entire Khaitan Fraternity for the successful completion of the event and went on to add that the future of students at Khaitan is secure.
