Khaitan Public School held its annual Investiture ceremony on the 13th of August for the announcement of The Helm/the Students Council 2021-22. The ceremony was held live on Zoom, and was organised with the skill and digital competency that everyone at KPS has adapted to. The evening began with an ode to Shiva – The Adi Yogi by Dev Aditya Tomar, a Khaitanian whose talent and mastery of the form held the audience in awe and appreciation.

With this auspicious start to the evening, the audience waited with anticipation, the welcome address by the vice chairman of the school, Mr. Anirudh Khaitan, under whose leadership the school reaches new heights every year. His inspiring words, delivered with his cheerful demeanor added a joyful air to the event. The doyens of the school, Education Director Ms. Mamta Kapoor, Vice Principal-Pastoral, Mr. Anand Kumar, Vice-Principal Teaching & Learning Ms Himani Tyagi, Pre-Primary School Head Ms Barkha Kanwal, Primary School Head, Dr. Tapasya Thakur, Middle School Head, Ms. Aparajita Roy Das, Senior School Head Ms. Rishika Sharma graced the occasion with their presence.

The Chief Guest of the event, Major General Vikram Dev Dogra is a man of many accomplishments. With combat experience in Jammu and Kashmir as well as various United Nations missions, he has also been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India. He proudly wears the title of Done Ironman Austria & Ironman Germany. His tale of grit and determination was received with rapt attention and stirred the students with a new zeal, especially those taking up the mantel of responsibility this year.

Proud parents and students listened eagerly as the house positions were announced by the heads of the school. An important part of the evening was the creativity that such events bring out in the students as well the teachers who guide the young learners. The performance of ‘Wonder’, put together by the members of the Khaitan Performing Arts society, was received with much adulation by the audience. The motivational song. “Hum Haar Nahi Maanenge” sung by the mellifluous students of the school raised the spirits of all.

The evening reached its pinnacle as the names of the head boy and head girl were announced by the Vice Principal-Pastoral Mr. Anand Kumar. The heart of each Khaitanian swelled with joy as the new heads of the student council received the school flag and pledged to be true to the ethos of the school. John Maxwell had said that, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” Such are the leaders of the new Students Council of Khaitan Public School.

All good things must come to a close eventually. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal-Pastoral Mr. Anand Kumar and the evening ended on a note of gratitude and hope for the upcoming year.
