Preparing a Good Study Plan For Board Exams 2020

The desire of securing admission to a desirable school/college depends largely on how efficiently the students prepares for board exams 2019 by balancing their time and tackling stress while preparing for both the competitive and board exams together.

Here are certain tips to score high marks to ensure you come out with flying colors in board exam 2019: Tips to Score high marks.

  • Give yourself enough time to study

Start your timetable way in advance, so you have enough time to revise everything. You might even need to make a few different timetables. It is a good idea to give a color code to each subject, it will be easier to navigate your timetable, it looks visually appealing and you will be able to see more easily if you have a fair balance between all of your subjects.

  • Break it down in achievable targets.

The cliché: Planning. Do not just dive straight into it. Think things through first. Take a separate piece of paper. Then, under each subject, list all of the things that you need to know. This might be all the topic areas for that subject, what you covered each week in class/tuitions or the different sections of the exam.

  • Understand concepts

Do not go for just theory; try to understand the concept behind them. It is important to learn and understand your concepts well if you want to score more in the exams. Cramming, without understanding, will take you nowhere. So, make sure you have understood the concepts well before cramming anything.

  • Mix it up; do not make it monotonous.

No one likes studying math for 6 straight hours. Give yourself a mix of subjects each day so that you decrease your chances of losing interest. Most people are more productive in the morning, so try mixing up the time of day you tackle different subjects as well. Before you schedule your study list for the day, you need to take into account that the subjects we learn are divided into three categories:

Memory dependent subjects like Biology, History and Geography, which contain a lot of material that need rote learning.

Problem solving subjects such as Math and Physics.

Interpretation based subjects such as English Literature and literature papers from other languages.

For most effective studying, you should alternate between each category of subjects in long study periods.

  • Organize your study space

To prepare effectively for the examination, you need to identify a quiet corner of the home, to study in peace and prepare comprehensively for the examination. Ensure that you are away from any kind of electronic gadget. Study in a clean, quiet and orderly room Keep anything and everything away from where you are that may cause you to get distracted. Jumping up to read a text message on your phone or periodically checking social media is ill advised whilst studying.

Make sure you have enough space on your desk to spread your textbooks and notes. Ensuring that the room is sufficiently bright and your chair restful your study space should be friendly and pleasant so that you can fully concentrate.

  • Reinvent your notes in other formats.

Rewriting your notes is great if you are a kinesthetic learner. Mind mapping is the most effective way of doing this. In addition, when you re-write something, you will probably think about what you are writing, what it is about, and why you wrote it down. Most importantly, it refreshes your memory. If you took notes a month ago and just found out that those notes will be relevant in your board exams 2019, rewriting them will remind you of them when you need it for your board exams 2019. Use flow charts and diagrams in the process.

  • Practice on old exam sample papers for your board exams 2019

This technique will boost ones confidence. A candidate will be able to understand the kind of questions, expected in the exam and prepare accordingly. Especially, you can look at the weightage of marks allotted for those areas you find difficult and work upon it. Solving past papers help you to get used to the format of the questions, and spend the right amount of time on each section. Solve questions of varying difficulty and try to finish them during the allotted time as mentioned on the question paper.

  • Snack on brain food & drink plenty of water

Following a healthy dietary schedule is important when you begin preparations for the examinations. Ensure that you take a light dinner whenever you plan to study late. Overeating decreases the grasping power and you will feel lethargic all the while and creates difficulty for when it comes to remembering data.

  1. Food can affect how you feel and think, it can influence alertness and the ability to concentrate.
  2. Eat little and often, aim to have three meals a day as well as mid-morning and mid afternoon snack
  3. Don’t skip breakfast.
  4. Choose foods, which are low in sugar.
  5. Choose whole foods, including fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  6. Include foods, which are high in essential fats such as nuts & seeds.
  7. It is important to remain hydrated – aim to drink 1.5 litres a day, avoiding sugary and caffeinated drinks.
  • Take regular breaks

You cannot forget the time spent on resting and sleep. Everyone works differently but a 5-10 minute break every hour is a good amount. Give yourself the night off every occasionally as well. Avoid studying for long hours continuously; instead take regular intervals every 50 to 60 minutes. These intervals are important to relax your brain and retrieve your energy to get ready for the next study session. They help to keep your brain focused and alert, because if your mind does not take a break, the next round of studying is not going to be as effective.
