The fine line Between Peer Pressure and Peer Motivation
Consider two situations:
When you have to submit an assignment and are nearing the deadline, there are friends who would push you to set targets and submit the project on time.
In the same situation, there would be another group of friends who would ultimately convince you to submit the project late as they are sailing in the same boat.
In both situations, you seem to have friends support. But there is a fine line that distinguishes peer motivation from peer pressure.
Khaitan Public School, one of the best CBSE schools in Ghaziabad and among the top 10 schools in Ghaziabad 2019 urges the students to understand the dangers of peer pressure and make friends who motivate you in the right direction.
The above example illustrates peer pressure of a miniscule magnitude. However, we are all aware of the extent it can scale up to.
As humans, we can be powerfully motivated by and through relationships. So, your friends can definitely hold you back. But, it also means that your friends can propel you forward.
If you don’t have any close peers in your life, you are missing out on some powerful sources of inspiration. However, this doesn’t mean that you rush with making friends and fall into the trap of bad company.
Choose your influencers wisely.
