Why is Fitzroy Reading Important at an Early Age?
What’s the most important trait you’d like to develop in your child? If you’re like most parents, intelligence is probably at the top of your list. We all want bright, smart children, which is why we spend so much time choosing the right schools and making sure teachers are exceeding expectations. But remember: as a parent, you have the power to boost your child’s learning potential simply by making books an integral part of her lives. More reason for the certain involvement of reading in a child’s life is her remarkable ability to grasp abstract concepts, apply logic in various scenarios, recognize cause and effect, and utilize good judgment. As your toddler or preschooler begins to relate the scenarios in books to what’s happening in her own world, she’ll become more excited about the stories you share.
What is Phonics?
Anyone who has been to school has learned phonics. Phonics is the basic reading instruction that teaches children the relationships between letters and sounds. Phonics teaches children to use these relationships to speak and write words. According to a study by the Partnership for Reading, the objective of phonics instruction is to help children learn and use the “alphabetic principle”: the systematic and predictable relationships between written letters and spoken sounds.
Fitzroy Reading Program at Khaitan Public School, Sahibabad
We, at KPS aim at making our students ‘Leaders for Life’ and thus, one of the most basic skills which strengthen the roots of a child’s growth tree is reading.
At early ages, kids face a lot of problem in reading and to make it easier KPS has joined its hand with an Australian reading program i.e. Fitzroy.
Fitzroy reading is the complete literacy program. Starting with the first letters, it builds to total reading mastery. The approach is logical, step-by-step and easy to follow, and it uses a variety of teaching tools to guarantee both rapid and enjoyable reading progress in a child’s life.
Fitzroy Parents Workshop
To make phonetics easier for children, we believe that parents also should have at least the basic knowledge of the same. That is why we organized a workshop on Phonetics for the parents of UKG grade. It was the perfect opportunity to showcase the unique program for their children and to give customized lessons to the parents, in order to make them aware of the basic phonetic sounds so that they can help their child in every possible way.
The Fitzroy reading workshop focused mainly on the methodology we use and the rationale behind the program. Mr Abhishek from Fitzroy demonstrated a few activities that we, as teachers, use in our classes everyday, as a part of the Fitzroy program. It was an enthusiastic and energetic bunch of ‘parents’ who readily learnt the phonics song, and happily played syllabication and vocabulary building games.
The parents went back totally satisfied and pleased with the way their children were learning foundational skills and their feedback was motivating, encouraging us, teachers, to do more and more for the young toddlers.
