  • ‘Why didn’t you let me live?’ | By Ayushi Chaudhary

    I was just a girl,
Who came in this world with closed eyes.
    Thinking of a bright future.
But then why you didn’t let me live?

Is it my mistake that I was a girl?
Then, how could you be so cruel?
That you didn’t even care for my mother’s tears,
Who was just begging you for my life.
Why didn’t you let me live?

Mom, I was so safe in your womb,
I wish I hadn’t come in this cruel world,
    The people here are devils,
    I hate this world…
Why didn’t you let me live?

    I was not the burden.
    I could’ve stood on my own legs;
    Become a doctor or engineer,
All I needed was a chance to prove myself!
Why didn’t you let me live?

I am the giver of life,
Who carries you for nine months,
Bear the pain of thousand bone cracks,
Then how can you think of killing me?
Why didn’t you let me live?
